Free Summer Head Scarf Crochet Pattern

Designed by Sayjai of K and J Dolls 

Materials:
  • 4 mm hook (US = G, UK = 8)
  • DK yarn (Light Worsted )
  • Five 6 mm beads for decorating flowers
  • Sewing needle and thread for attaching beads
Gauge:  5 dc = 1 inch, 2 rows = 1 inch (1 inch is 2.56 cm)
Size: about 18 inch across excluding tie strings.

Abbreviations (US crochet terms):
ch = chain
sc = single crochet
dc = double crochet
st = stitch
sl = slip
tog = together

Head Scarf:
Row 1: Ch 85, dc in 6th chain from hook, (ch1, skip one ch, dc in next ch) 38 times, skip one ch, dc in last ch, turn. 
Row 2: Ch 3, skip next dc and one ch, dc in next dc, (ch 1, skip one ch, dc in next dc) 36 times, skip one ch, dc in last dc of  previous row, turn.
Row 3: Ch 3, skip next dc and one ch, dc in next dc, (ch 1, skip one ch, dc in next dc) 34 times, skip one ch, dc in last dc of  previous row, turn.
Row 4: Ch 3, skip next dc and one ch, dc in next dc, (ch 1, skip one ch, dc in next dc) 32 times, skip one ch, dc in last dc of  previous row, turn.
Row 5: Ch 3, skip next dc and one ch, dc in next dc, (ch 1, skip one ch, dc in next dc) 30 times, skip one ch, dc in last dc of  previous row, turn.
Row 6: Ch 3, skip next dc and one ch, dc in next dc, (ch 1, skip one ch, dc in next dc) 28 times, skip one ch, dc in last dc of  previous row, turn.
Row 7: Ch 3, skip next dc and one ch, dc in next dc, (ch 1, skip one ch, dc in next dc) 26 times, skip one ch, dc in last dc of  previous row, turn.
Row 8: Ch 3, skip next dc and one ch, dc in next dc, (ch 1, skip one ch, dc in next dc) 24 times, skip one ch, dc in last dc of  previous row, turn.
Row 9: Ch 3, skip next dc and one ch, dc in next dc, (ch 1, skip one ch, dc in next dc) 22 times, skip one ch, dc in last dc of  previous row, turn.
Row 10: Ch 3, skip next dc and one ch, dc in next dc, (ch 1, skip one ch, dc in next dc) 20 times, skip one ch, dc in last dc of  previous row, turn.
Row 11: Ch 3, skip next dc and one ch, dc in next dc, (ch 1, skip one ch, dc in next dc) 18 times, skip one ch, dc in last dc of  previous row, turn.
Row 12: Ch 3, skip next dc and one ch, dc in next dc, (ch 1, skip one ch, dc in next dc) 16 times, skip one ch, dc in last dc of  previous row, turn.
Row 13: Ch 3, skip next dc and one ch, dc in next dc, (ch 1, skip one ch, dc in next dc) 14 times, skip one ch, dc in last dc of  previous row, turn.

Row 18: Ch 3, skip next dc and one ch, dc in next dc, (ch 1, skip one ch, dc in next dc) 4 times, skip one ch, dc in last dc of  previous row, turn.
Row 19: Ch 3, skip next dc and one ch, dc in next dc, (ch 1, skip one ch, dc in next dc) 2 times, skip one ch, dc in last dc of  previous row,  turn.
Row 20: Ch 3, skip next dc and one ch, dc in next dc, skip one ch, dc in last dc of  previous row, turn.

Working around the triangle.
Row 21: Working in the end of rows, sl st in next dc, ch 1, sc in same st, (ch2, dc in same st, sc in next end of row) 20 times; making first string; ch 40, sc in second ch from hook, sc in next 38 chs; working in remaining loops on opposite side of starting chain, sc in each ch across; making second string; ch 40, sc in second ch from hook, sc in next 38 chs; working in the end of rows, sl st in end of starting ch, (ch2, dc in same st, sc in next end of row) 19 times, ch2, dc in same st, sl st in the first sc.

  2. I'm having the same problem! I do the first row and I can't get it right. I have 1 st left over and 42 dc posts. Sad, it looks like a pretty pattern.
